Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Political workers have been creating disturbances by visiting various municipal offices, questioning officials, inspecting registers, demanding documents, and even using abusive language. Such incidents have been increasing day by day. Officers and employees are reportedly fed up with this behaviour, saying it has become difficult to carry out their work. Some officials privately approached the mayor to express their grievances. Taking note of this, mayor Sameer Rajurkar on Friday directed that cases be registered against those harassing officials and employees without cause.

Incidents have also been reported at the municipal corporation hospital in Cidco N-7, where doctors and staff were spoken to in an extremely disrespectful manner. At Siddharth Garden, officials were reportedly issued instructions in an overbearing tone. Similarly, officers and staff involved in dog sterilisation drives have been confronted aggressively. In some cases, political workers have even warned officials not to listen to MLAs or the mayor and to act only with the approval of their party leadership.

Notably, videos of such incidents are being recorded and shared on social media by certain office-bearers and workers. This has created an atmosphere of fear among municipal officials and staff, making it difficult for them to function effectively. Some officials have even expressed their distress to local traders.

Speaking to the media, the Mayor said that clear instructions have been given to the administration. While everyone has the right to seek information, there is a proper procedure for doing so. If anyone uses abusive language towards officials or employees, cases should be registered immediately. He added that strict legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply even after these warnings.
