The office bearers of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal in Kannad have been removed from their posts with immediate effect by charity joint commissioner R. S. Pawaskar. The order also directs that the open land belonging to the institution be taken back into its possession.

What is the case?

The disputed land in front of Savitribai Phule Girls’ School, which belongs to the institution, was allegedly divided into plots and sold without authorization. A petition regarding the functioning of the institution was filed on May 19, 2016. After a prolonged hearing, the Charity Joint Commissioner announced the verdict, ordering the removal of the trustees from the managing body.

Who are the accused?

Those removed include president Mansingh Pawar, vice-president Dr Pandharinath Nikam, secretary Chandrakant Deshmukh, and members D Anandrao Mahale, Krishnarao Patil, and Babasaheb Mohite.
