What began as a routine academic day ended in irreversible loss for the Khanse family of Bajajnagar. Twenty-year-old Omkar Khanse, an aspiring management student, lost his life in a road mishap that has left his neighbourhood stunned.
Currently pursuing BBA (second year) at SB College, Omkar had visited campus for academic work on Wednesday. While heading back home around noon, his two-wheeler was struck near Barapulla Gate in the Chhawani–Laxmi Colony stretch by a civic body dumper engaged in waste collection. The impact proved fatal. Police have registered an offence against the dumper driver following a complaint lodged by a family member.

Residents of Town Centre Housing Society recall Omkar as soft-spoken, disciplined and focused on his studies. Friends described him as someone who maintained strong bonds and carried an optimistic outlook about his future. He belonged to a close-knit family. His father earns a livelihood as a labour contractor and his mother manages the household. He also leaves behind younger siblings and extended family members who shared the same residence. The funeral rites were performed in the evening at a local cremation ground in Bajajnagar amid a large gathering of relatives and acquaintances. The fatal incident has reignited debate over oversight of heavy municipal vehicles operating within residential and semi-urban pockets, with citizens demanding accountability and preventive safeguards to curb further casualties.
