Aurangabad, Dec 22:

A pillion rider died on the spot and the motorcycle rider sustained injuries after a bus hit their vehicle from behind at the traffic signal near Cidco Bus Stand, today at noon.

A resident of Parli, Shubham Shinde, along with pillion rider, was riding the motorcycle (bearing number MH 44 V 4412). He was waiting at the traffic signal near Cidco Bus Stand at 12 pm. Their vehicle was behind one bus. In the meantime, a speeding bus (MH20 BL2909) - Aurangabad to Jalna - which was without a conductor, hit their bike from behind. The accident was so severe that both the rider as well as pillion rider were pulled under the speeding bus. Shubham sustained severe injuries while the pillion rider died on the spot. Few passengers sitting in the bus also suffered injuries.

Acting on the information, the assistant commissioner of police Deepak Girhe, police inspector Vithal Pote, police sub-inspectors M P Laad and Kailas Annaldat along with cops reached the spot. The police rushed the injured to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. The cops also revived the traffic on the route after some time.

Angry citizens smashed the bus after the accident. They claimed the accidents have become common due to the irresponsible driving of the buses at the signal. Shubham and five passengers of the bus are undergoing treatment at GMCH. Further investigation is on.
