Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

One person was killed and two others were seriously injured after an unidentified speeding vehicle rammed into their car from behind on Monday at around 8.30 pm. The accident occurred near Hotel Rahul at Maniknagar on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon highway.

The deceased has been identified as Sitaram Devrao Palodkar (60) and the injured are Suresh Hingmire (35) and Eshwar Suradkar (31), all residents of Palod.

According to police sources, All three were travelling from Maniknagar towards Sillod in their car (MH-17 T-1385) when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit their four-wheeler from behind near a hotel at Maniknagar. The impact was so severe that the rear portion of the car was completely crushed.

All three occupants sustained grave injuries in the accident. Local residents rushed to the spot, pulled them out of the damaged vehicle, and shifted them to a hospital by ambulance. However, Sitaram Palodkar succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The other two injured persons are currently undergoing treatment.

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Rural police station, and further investigation is being carried out by police personnel Deepak Ingale.

Meanwhile, Sitaram Palodkar was cremated on Tuesday morning. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and three daughters.
