A 12-year-old male leopard was found dead in a drain near farmer Ananda Jadhav's field in Devhari shivar, Soyegaon tehsil, on Wednesday morning.

The body bore claw and bite marks, indicating a fierce fight with another male leopard over territory. Forest officials, guided by deputy conservator Suvarna Mane and assistant forest guard Swapnil Bhamre, reached the spot and concluded that the older, weaker leopard chose to fight rather than retreat, ultimately losing its life. A panchnama was conducted and the leopard was cremated in the presence of witnesses.
