Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Owing to the Zilla Parishad elections, a sudden holiday was announced on Saturday morning at the Government Dental College and Hospital. In this situation, patients who already had appointments were treated. However, patients who came to the OPD were issued slips and told, “Come on Monday.” As a result, many patients had to return home while enduring toothache.
The holiday at the Government Dental College and Hospital was announced around 10 am. Patients had arrived as it was their scheduled treatment date. A decision was taken to treat such patients, and the OPD was kept open. However, while issuing OPD slips, patients were informed that it was a holiday. After reaching the OPD, they were then advised to come back on Monday. Patients from Waluj and other areas were forced to return without treatment. While treatment for appointment-holding patients continued in some departments, other departments remained closed. Even office staff had to come to the hospital only to return without work.
GMCH OPD open today
The OPD at GMCHG was closed on Saturday, and this information had been given on Friday itself. As the OPD remained closed on Saturday, it will function during the Sunday morning session.
No inconvenience to patients
“Patients who had appointments were treated. Patients requiring urgent care were also treated. The OPD was operational.”
— Dr Maya Indurkar, dean, government dental college and hospital
