Over 3 k candidates take online MHT-CET on 1st day

The State Common Entrance Test Cell (SCETC) started conducting online MHT-CET from Thursday across the State for the admission to engineering, technology, pharmacy and agriculture undergraduate courses.

More than 3,000 candidates appeared for the first day today.

The State level test is being held in two groups in two phases. The first group is Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and Physics Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).

The test which is generally conducted in May month was postponed twice due to the spread of Novel virus across the State. The examination schedule, both PCB and PCM was made separately to follow all measures of COVID 19 at the centres.

PCB candidates are taking the test from October 1 to 9 at 12 centres in the city. The schedule for the PCM is between October 12 and 20. Over 23,000 students from the have registered for the examination.

A total of 2065 candidates were to take the test in the first session of the first day today while 1493 were present. Similarly, there were 1511 examinees present in the second session out of 2065 registered students.

The first session was held from 7.30 am to 12 noon and second from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Candidates are not given entry after 8.45 am in the first session and after 2.15 pm in the second session. Screening of each candidate through thermal gun and oxymeter are being done at each centre because of Novel coronavirus situation. Candidates were seen wearing masks and using sanitizer at the centres.

Those who have symptoms of COVID or found positive patient will be an opportunity to appear for the CET on the last day of the schedule. The last date of PCB is October 9 while for PCM it is October 20.
