Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: More than 50,000 students of standards 5th and 8th took the school scholarship examination to be conducted by Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) at 324 centres in the district on Sunday.

Education Officer (Primary) Jayshree Chavan said that the School Education Department has been implementing a campaign for a large number of students to appear for the 5th and 8th grade scholarship examination for the last three years. A large number of students had registered for the test this year.

She said that a total of 53,012 students, including 31, 583 for the 5th grade and 21, 429 from the 8th grade, registered in the district. Of them, there are 181 centres in the district for the 5th scholarship exam and 143 for the 8th. A total of 30,0 27 students appeared for the first paper of the 5th scholarship, while 1573 students were absent. The first paper was at 11 am on Sunday, and the second paper was at 2 pm. More than 20,000 students were present for the 8th class examination.
