Aurangabad, July 15:

The oxygen production plant sanctioned under the PM Cares Fund in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) which had been languishing for two months, was commissioned in just two days and oxygen production was started.

Due to the possibility of a third wave of corona, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently directed immediate completion of oxygen generation plants throughout the country. The ground breaking ceremony of the oxygen production was held on May 14 at Government Medical College and Hospital. A deadline of 15 days was given for the completion of the plant. However, the project work lingered for two months. A news article was published in this newspaper on July 12 highlighting the issue. Taking note, the GMCH administration ordered the project to be completed on the battlefield. GMCH dean Dr Kanan Yelikar informed that the work was completed accordingly and oxygen production at the plant also started from Wednesday. The plant will produce 200 large cylinders of oxygen per day at 100 liters per minute. The oxygen production plant set up earlier by the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) is producing 125 jumbo cylinders of oxygen per day.
