A criminal entered a travel office and threatened a standing passenger with a knife, coercing him to transfer money online. The incident occurred on March 15 at around 10.30 pm at Akshaydeep Plaza in Cidco Chowk. Alert citizens acted quickly, confined the suspect inside the office, and handed him over to the police. The accused has been identified as Aryan Sunil Dane (resident of Jaybhavaninagar), and he was taken into custody by MIDC Cidco Police.
Shaikh Salman Shaikh Salim (26, of Siddharthnagar) runs the travel bus office at Akshaydeep Plaza. On the night of March 15, while Salman was in the office, Aryan approached and suddenly held a knife to the neck of a passenger, Gangaram Parte (27, Madhya Pradesh), who was standing to book a ticket. Aryan forcibly took Gangaram’s mobile, unlocked it using the password, and then threatened him and Salman to transfer money through the digital wallet.
Citizens intervene
Noticing the commotion, passersby including Sagar Kirtikar, Vicky Jadhav, and others rushed in, wrested the knife from Aryan’s hand, and pushed him into the shop. They then closed the shutters and informed the police. MIDC Cidco Police arrived promptly, arrested Aryan, and a case has since been registered against him.
