Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

As the Godavari Marathwada irrigation development corporation is being made autonomous, the salaries of its employees should continue to be paid through the treasury office, demanded the Maharashtra state irrigation employees’ union at a meeting held at irrigation bhavan on Saturday.

The meeting resolved to submit a representation to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in this regard at the earliest. Recently, instructions have been issued to pay the salaries of officers and employees of the Godavari Marathwada irrigation development corporation from water tariff collections starting April. The meeting was convened to discuss this issue and to understand the stand of the employees. It was held under the chairmanship of the union’s general secretary, Ganesh Sonawane.

It was decided that the gazetted officers’ association of the water resources department, the state government central employees’ association, the junior engineers’ association, the draughtsmen employees’ association, and the irrigation employees’ union would jointly submit a memorandum to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. All associations unanimously agreed that the salaries and allowances of officers and employees should continue to be paid through the treasury, as was done earlier.

Office-bearers including Abhijit Kulkarni, Babasaheb Waghmare, Anil Paka, Rupali Sapate, Ashwini Kanadkar, Ashwini Vayal and Shilpa Hulekar were present at the meeting.
