Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Despite a dedicated underpass connecting Shivajinagar and Deolai with pedestrian pathways on both sides, many pedestrians continue to cross railway tracks, risking their lives. Frequent traffic congestion, narrow walkways, and poor maintenance have discouraged proper use of the underpass.

During peak morning and evening hours, company workers, students, nearby residents, and senior citizens often cross tracks directly or climb cement walls and garbage piles to save time. Citizens said the pedestrian path allows only single-person movement, turning a two-minute walk into a 10–15 minute journey. Several sections lack proper flooring, and broken iron rods pose additional hazards. Although service roads and drainage walls have been constructed to prevent waterlogging, slabs are installed only on one side, forcing pedestrians to use unsafe routes.
