Aurangabad, April 10:

Some Muslim organisations have sought permission from the district administration to offer special prayer at mosques during the holy month Ramzan in the city.

It may be noted that lockdown was imposed during the March month of 2020 with the spread of COVID.

Muslim brethren offered five times prayers and special prayer at home in May last year because of lockdown. They could not offer even Eid prayer at Eidgah.

There is COVID outbreak in March this year also and the State Government has imposed strict lockdown to contain the spread of the pandemic virus. All religious places were shut down as around 1500 positive patents are detected daily.

Around 25 to 30 deaths of patients are reported in private and government hospitals during 24 hours duration. The situation is not different in other parts of the State. The Government imposed a strict lockdown for the past few days. Muslim brethren worried that this time also they may not be able to offer prayer at mosques in coming Ramzan month too.

Taraweeh, a special is offered in Ramzan at night. Muslim organisations requested the district collector allow them to offer special prayer at mosques in Ramzan. Some leaders of NCP also made similar demands with the Government. But, no decision was taken yet.

City traders were also worried about losing Ramzan month business in lockdown. Crores of rupees turnover is recorded in the month. The traders were unable to do business even during Ramzan month of 2020. The situation is not different this year from last year.
