In the city, the petrol price has gone up to Rs 94.10 per litre, while in the costliest petrol in Marathwada is being sold in Parbhani at Rs 95.21 per litre. This is the first time that petrol price breached the all-time high level. Earlier in 2018, the price of petrol had reached Rs 92.34. With fuel prices continuously rising, the budget of the common man has collapsed.

In Aurangabad, petrol prices have been on the rise since November last year. However, there was a minimal rise in petrol prices in mid-December. Petrol price again started to rise since December end. On January 1 petrol was being sold at Rs 91.53 per liter. On January 6, petrol price was hiked by 27 paise at was being sold at Rs 91.80. On January 7, the petrol price was hiked by 24 paise again. This rate reached Rs 92.05 per litre. On January 13, petrol price was hiked by 24 paise again. Immediately on January 14, the price of petrol was increased by 24 paise. While petrol prices in the city remained stable for three days in a row, it suddenly rose again by 24 paise touching Rs 92.77 on January 18. On January 19, 2021, the price of petrol went up by another 24 paise. On January 22, the price of petrol went up by 24 paise and reached Rs 93.25. On January 23, the rate rose by 25 paise. On January 26, it rose again by 33 paise. The rate reached 93.83 paise. On January 27, it increased by 25 paise to 94.10 paise. From December 30, 2019 to January 29, 2021, the price of petrol has been increased by a total of Rs 12.38 paise.
