Petty thefts continue to rise in the city, with four separate offences registered on April 26 across different police stations. Incidents of chain-snatching, ring theft, cheating and mobile robbery have posed a challenge for the police, as detection remains limited.

Motorcyclist attacked, chain partially snatched

Businessman Rajesh Reddy was allegedly pushed off his two-wheeler by an unidentified man near Chaudhary Petrol Pump in the Jaffer Gate area around 11:30 am. The accused attempted to snatch his 1.5-tola gold chain. Reddy resisted, retaining a 10-gram portion, while the accused fled with 5 grams. Kranti Chowk police have registered a case.

Gold ring stolen during walk

On April 23 at around 10.30 pm, Pradeep Pandurang Nandedkar was stopped near Baliram Patil School by four persons in an autorickshaw, who forcibly removed his half-tola gold ring. Cidco police have registered the offence.

Elderly woman duped, robbed of gold

Pratibha Venkatarav Bhosale (N-9, Cidco) was allegedly misled on April 26 around 8 am near Baliram Patil School by miscreants claiming her son had won a lottery. Taken on a two-wheeler on the pretext of visiting a corporator’s office, she was robbed of a 1.5-tola gold necklace and a 3.5-gram gold ring. Cidco police have registered a case.

Mobile snatched near railway station

On April 25 around 11 pm, Rahul Chougule was near Mukundwadi railway station en route to Jalna when two youths demanded money for liquor. Upon refusal, they snatched his mobile phone and fled. Pundliknagar police have registered the case.
