A municipal team caught a plumber red-handed while installing unauthorized water connections on a main pipeline in Mujeeb Colony on February 13 at 7.30 pm. Authorities took swift action and registered a case against him at Jinsi Police Station.

The accused, identified as Shaikh Sattar from Chishtiya Colony, was illegally tapping into the city’s 300 mm main water pipeline. Acting on a tip-off, a municipal team arrived at the scene and found him installing two unauthorized half-inch water connections. When questioned, Sattar refused to disclose who he was supplying water to. Taking advantage of the crowd, he managed to escape. During the inspection, officials found several other illegal connections on the same pipeline. The team seized 50 feet of pipeline material. Junior engineer Anand Rajput later lodged a police complaint against Sattar. Authorities had received multiple complaints about Sattar’s illegal activities but had failed to catch him in the act until now. Police are investigating further.
