Bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) bitch ‘Arya’ passed away on Thursday morning. The Assistant Commissioner of Police offered flowers to Arya, and later a guard of honour was given by firing three rounds. The last rites were performed on her in full state honour at Cantonment Crematorium. Twelve years old Arya suffered a stomach infection. She was included in the squad in 2012. She worked with her associates in detecting the explosives on several occasions at places like Airport, Aurangabad division bench, district court, Railway Station, Bus Stand, divisional commissionerate, and other places. Similarly, Arya played an important role during the visits of very important persons to various cities in Maharashtra and even at Goa. She was being treated at the Government Animal Husbandry Hospital for the past six months. She breathed her last on Thursday at around 6.30 am. The post mortem was conducted. During the funeral procession, her body was kept in a vehicle decorated with flowers, and the last rites were performed at the Cantonment Crematorium. ACP Vishwambhar Golde, Pi Sushil Jumde offered flowers on the body. The police force fired three rounds in her honour. Constables Krishna Kale and Kachru Kapse were the handlers of Arya. They could not resist their tears on her departure.
