Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) lodged a complaint with police against the Secretary and Joint Secretary of Kohinoor Educational Society (Khuldabad) for taking admission to Ph D on the basis of a fake degree.

The number of accused in this case has reached five. The police have expressed the possibility of involvement of more accused in this case. Police officials said that the university administration is not verifying the documents and degrees required for the investigation in a timely manner. That is why, the main accused was granted bail.

The university lodged a complaint against Kohinoor Educational Society Secretary Asma Khan and Joint Secretary Maqsood Khan in the fake degree case. After this, Asma Khan's husband and the president of the society Mazhar Khan was made accused.

Similarly, Mohammad Hafiz-Ur-Rahman Mohammad Moinuddin, who got a job for Marathi and Psychology in the junior college on the basis of fake degrees, was also arrested.

Based on the information given by this accused, the then Principal Dr Shankar Ambhore was arrested. The PCR was granted by the court for the accused. However, the police have received information that some of youths have got jobs in this college on the basis of bogus degrees.

It is the responsibility of the administration to get the degrees verified from universities and institutions as soon as possible. There is a delay in getting cooperation from the university for the verification of the documents.

The accused in the case, Maqsood Khan, has benefited from this. The district court granted him anticipatory bail. It is also known that the university has not yet given a letter to the police authorising the deputy registrar to lodge a complaint.
