Aurangabad, Oct 22:

The city police busted a racket gambling on the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches recently. Now, police have raided on a gambling den at Rauzabaug on Thursday night where the gambling was done on the IPL matches. In all, 18 persons have been arrested in this connection. The police have seized mobile phones, laptops, LED TVs and other articles used for gambling. It is the biggest action executed by the police in the city on the IPL matches gambling so far. The police were conducting the Panchnama on the spot till late at night.

Police received the information through the informers that gambling is done at Rauzabaug on IPL matches. Accordingly, under the guidance of DSP Nikesh Khatmode Patil, the city chowk police team including PI, Sambhaji Pawar, PSI Praveen Patharkar and others conducted a raid on the gambling den. The gambling centre looked like a call centre. Gambling was done here right from the toss of the match, each ball and the winners of the match.

Around 18 persons have been arrested in this connection and the police seized 52 mobile phones, Laptops and LED TVs from the spot. Similar police actions were executed in the city at two places recently where gambling was done on the IPL matches. The police are now trying to investigate who is the kingpin of the gambling racket and other related activities.
