Aurangabad, Jan 5:

Police will soon record the statement of NCP state youth president Mehboob Shaikh, who is accused of rape. Meanwhile, the police found that the residential address of the victim and the address on her Aadhaar card is different.

According to information, a case of rape was registered against Mehboob Sheikh (Shirur, Beed) on December 26 at the Cidco police station following a complaint lodged by the 29-year-old victim. In her complaint, the young woman alleged that she was raped on November 14 by Shaikh under the pretext of helping her get a job. Assistant commissioner of police Nishikant Bhujbal is investigating the case. As the accused is an office-bearer of the ruling political party, the police started the investigation of the crime without arresting the accused immediately. Mehboob Shaikh held a press conference stating that he was not in Aurangabad on the date mentioned in the complaint and did not know the woman who had lodged the complaint against him. However, the statement of accused Sheikh will be recorded by the police. A notice may be issued by the police to Sheikh soon. Officials declined to say when he would be called.

Medical examination of the victim

Three teams have been formed to investigate this crime. It has a female officer. After receiving the victim''s complaint, the police conducted her medical examination at the Government Medical College and Hospital.

Victim claims Shaikh as the culprit

Meanwhile, a video of the victim has gone viral on social media. She said that the perpetrator was Mehboob Shaikh, the state youth president of the Nationalist Congress Party. She further added that she would tell the court whatever she wanted to say or do.
