Aurangabad, Dec 19:

In order to prevent thefts in Waluj MIDC area, the police administration on Saturday held a meeting of scrap dealers at Massia hall and gave them a stern warning.

Police found that thieves were selling stolen goods from Aurangabad city and industrial areas to scrap dealers. Police are struggling to find the thieves as the stolen loot is being sold to scrap dealers. To curb the rising number of thefts, burglaries and crimes, the commissioner of police Dr Nikhil Gupta directed assistant CP Ashok Bankar and PI Madhukar Sawant to convene a meeting of scrap dealers. During the meeting, the police officials instructed the dealers to record the details of the people coming to sell scrap. Complete information and address of the worker working in the shops, installation of CCTV cameras, getting RTO permission while destroying vehicles in the scrap, contact the police station immediately if there is any suspicion. The officials also instructed of strict action against those who will buy stolen scrap metal. Assistant PI Rajesh Wagh, Machhindra Jadhav, Manish Suryavanshi and scrap dealers were present.
