Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A police constable went beyond his duty and saved a vegetable vendor’s life after he suffered a severe heart attack in Satara on Tuesday.

Constable Ramdas Gawhane from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit was on his way to the office when he saw a commotion near Renuka Temple. He spotted vegetable vendor Ramkisan Sridharrao Sulakhane (40, Peshwenagar) collapsed on the ground while his family and nearby vendors panicked. Gawhane immediately stopped his bike, ran to Sulakhane, and recognized the signs of a heart attack. Without hesitation, he performed chest compressions (CPR). When Sulakhane started breathing again, Gawhane rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors provided immediate treatment. His quick action saved Sulakhane’s life.

Training proved useful

Recently, doctors and experts trained police personnel in CPR and life-saving techniques. Gawhane said this training helped him save Sulakhane’s life.CP Pravin Pawar later felicitated Gawhane for his brave act.
