Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Three fruit vendors beat up a pregnant woman and a youth in Shahaganj Chaman area on Wednesday evening.

This incident created tension in the area for some time. The police detained a total of 7 youths. The process of registering a case in this matter was underway at City Chowk Police Station late at night.

The number of fruit vendors in the Shahaganj Chaman area has increased much more than usual in view of Ramzan. Two-wheeler owners have to face problems while moving in this area. Four-wheelers cannot pass here in the evening. Fruit vendors here pushed a pregnant woman around 4 pm on Wednesday.

They also beat up the youth who was with the woman. The special thing is that all this happened right next to the Shahaganj Police Chowky. Some activists of Deputy Mayor Rajendra Janjal were passing through the area at that time. They made a video and gave the information to Janjal.

Janjal contacted Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar. The police detained Imran and six others who beat him. A case was being registered late at night.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Janjal stated that the arrogance of some handcart vendors has increased, and they are directly assaulting citizens. Handcarts are being stationed right up to the middle of the road. Instructions have been given to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Commissioner (CSMC) to remove all encroached handcarts.
