The Muslim Numainda Council (MNC, Aurangabad), an apex federal body, of all the active social, religious and welfare organisations, today has submitted a memorandum to the President of India (through the divisional commissioner) and condemned the unjust act of Telangana police against the peaceful anti-CAA student protestors.
The delegation led by MNC president Ziauddin Siddiqui comprises general secretary Meraj Siddiqui, Shaikh Muntajibuddin, Muhammed Hussain, Hafiz Sharif Nizami, Maulana Noman Nadvi, Amjad Quadri and others. The memorandum demanded to revoke CAA 2019 immediately; assure on record that the Central Government will not carry out NRC in the country ; immediately release all the innocent anti-CAA protestors of Shaheen Bagh (Delhi), University of Hyderabad and other activists arrested across the country ; quash all the FIR filed against the students of University of Hyderabad etc.
The delegation through memorandum urges the President of India to intervene in the matter for justice to these young peaceful protestors of our democratic country. Arresting and accusing them of disturbing the peaceful atmosphere on the campus is highly condemnable. It demeans the Constitution and demolishes the fundamental rights of peace-loving citizens. This amounts to cruelty and injustice, stated the memorandum.
The nation is going through a pandemic situation due to Covid-19. In this situation, the arrests of students opposing CAA-NRC by the state government of Telangana seems to be in sync with the agenda of the Central Government to silence all those voices that demonstrated dissent against CAA. Telangana Police has filed an FIR on 14 student activists of the University of Hyderabad on arbitrary charges for being part of a peaceful protest march organised by HCU Coordination Committee (HCC) in February against the anti-constitutional Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), underlines the memorandum.
