Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Marathi literature is ancient. The journey of Marathi from Sanskrit to Prakrit has now reached classical status,”said, Laxmikant Dhond, a prominent dram scholar from Pune.

He was speaking in Principal Narhar Kurundkar Lecture Series on ‘Understanding the Early Marathi Poetry of the Saptashati' organised t the Department of Marathi and Language Studies of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, on Tuesday.

Head of the Department Dr Dasu Vaidya and the Director of Student Development Board Dr KailashAmbhure were also present on the stage.

“The origin of the Marathi poems and epics written in different parts today can be seen in the Saptashati Saga which is a great treasure in Prakrut Marathi,” said Dhond. In his introductory speech, Dr Dasu Vaidya said that it is important to study whatever is around us.

Bapurao Warade conducted the proceedings of the programme while Nikita Phapal proposed a vote of thanks. A large number of citizens, teachers and students of the city were present.
