The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Sagar Jadhav (32, Vaijapur) for allegedly accepting Rs 12,000 to stop sub-registrar action in a loan default case and secure an instalment extension. The trap was executed Wednesday evening; a case was registered at the Railway Police Station at night.

A 35-year-old complainant had taken a Rs 5 lakh business loan from Devgiri Bank under the Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation scheme. After defaulting, the bank issued a recovery notice, with proceedings to follow through the sub-registrar’s office (Parasava). Jadhav, linked to the Marathwada Urban Bank Co-operative Association, allegedly demanded Rs 12,000 accepting Rs 2,000 online earlier to halt action and grant time. Following a complaint to ACB superintendent Madhuri Kangane, verification by police inspector Chainsing Gusinge confirmed the demand. A trap was laid at Roplekar Chowk, but Jadhav left for Vaijapur by Tapovan Express. He later called the complainant to the railway station for the remaining Rs 10,000. ACB deputy superintendent Sangita Patil and team set a trap. Seated in the train with his wife, Jadhav allegedly said, “I am the officer; no action will be taken,” accepted Rs 10,000 through the window, and was immediately arrested inside the coach. Though he claimed to be a junior clerk at Marathwada Urban Bank Co-operative Association Ltd., Jadhav had no official appointment letter only a job application. Despite this, he allegedly operated from a separate desk, promising to manage sub-registrar matters.
