Aurangabad, Oct 28:
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health section has sent a letter stating the private medical practitioners to submit details of health care workers (doctors, nurses and other staff) in their establishments, who were involved in the treatment of Covid-19 patients. Acting upon the government orders, the civic administration will be administering the Covid vaccine to the above personnel in the first phase.
It is said that the state government will be providing Covid vaccine, soon. However, the planning to administer the vaccine has gained momentum before the arrival of the vaccine stock.
The medical officer of health Dr Neeta Padalkar has sent the letter to all private medical practitioners (private hospitals, dispensaries, nursing homes, etc.). She also sent the letter to the Indian Medical Association (IMA, Aurangabad Chapter).
The state government had issued a letter to all the local self-government in Maharashtra to send details on the number of Covid vaccines required along with the plan to administer it, during last week. As per directives, the vaccine, in the first phase, will be given to employees and personnel who were involved in serving Covid patients for the past seven months. They were the ones who worked by putting their lives in danger. Hence the government decided to administer the vaccine to them on priority.
Dr Padalkar said, the details from Covid Care Centres, health centres are also being collected. We will compile the final report after receiving information from private practitioners and then send it to the government.
