Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Pro Vice-Chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu), Dr Walmik Sarwade, resigned from the post on Monday.

He has been selected as the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chair Professor at Mumbai University. Dr Sarwade submitted his resignation to Vice-Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari. The university administration has accepted the resignation.

Registrar Dr Prashant Amritkar informed that he (Dr Sarwade) was relieved of his duties on Monday afternoon. He had been serving as Pro VC since February 2024. He had been working in the Department of Commerce in Bamu for the past 30 years.

Previously, he has served in various roles, including Professor, Head of Department, Director of the Student Development Board, Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board, and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Sciences.

Before joining the university, he worked as a lecturer at Vivekananda College. He had obtained ‘No Objection Certificates (NOC)’ from the university administration five to six times to apply for positions at various institutions.

Registrar Dr Prashant Amritkar said that Dr Sarwade was appointed as the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chair Professor at the University of Mumbai and would be taking charge shortly, which is the reason he had resigned from the post of Pro-VC.
