Intensifying its revenue recovery drive, the state goods and services tax (GST) department has seized the immovable property of a trader in Kannad tehsil over pending dues of Rs 1.02 crore.

Despite repeated notices under the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, the trader failed to clear the arrears, prompting action under Section 79 of the Act. The operation was carried out on the orders of additional commissioner of state tax Abhijit Raut. State tax officer Avinash Chavan executed the seizure under the guidance of deputy commissioner Nilesh Shewalkar(GST), with state tax inspector Rajendra Jadhav and tax assistant Shweta Jadhav part of the team. Officials urged taxpayers to file returns on time and clear dues, warning that non-compliance would invite strict legal measures. Safeguarding government revenue and protecting honest taxpayers remain the department’s priority, Raut said.
