The municipal council has decided to set up a commercial complex at Chikalthana. The Revenue Department, however, had expressed its inability to transfer government land to the council. MLA Anuradha Chavan had raised this issue with Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule one and a half months ago. The minister had instructed that the proposal be urgently sent to the state government. However, it is understood that the proposal has still not been forwarded. During road widening at Chikalthana, many traders lost their plots. The municipal council decided to build the commercial complex on government land in this area. Accordingly, a proposal was sent to the District Collector to allocate 1.57 hectares of land in Survey No. 737. A tender was also issued to construct the commercial complex. The District Collector’s office refused to provide the land, citing its value of over Rs 33 crore. MLA Anuradha Chavan then raised the matter with Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who held an online meeting and directed that the proposal be sent to the state government. However, to date, the proposal has not yet been submitted.
