Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A proposal has been sent to the state government for approval to release ₹89 crore for the new water supply scheme. Under this project, the municipal corporation’s share amounts to ₹822 crore, for which it has already taken a loan. So far, ₹105 crore has been paid to the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) as the corporation’s contribution.

The new water supply scheme, being implemented with an estimated expenditure of ₹2,740 crore, has been planned keeping the city’s requirements in mind up to 2050. Under the funding pattern, the Central Government will contribute 25 per cent (₹681.43 crore), the State Government 45 pc (₹1,226.96 crore), and the municipal corporation 30 pc (₹822.22 crore).

Given the corporation’s limited financial capacity, the state government approved a loan of ₹822.22 crore, which is being disbursed in stages. Out of this, ₹105 crore has already been released to the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP). The proposal to release an additional ₹89 crore has now been sent to the state government for approval, according to official sources.
