A man who had been stalking and harassing a 26-year-old college lecturer on her daily commute was thrashed by a crowd after she confronted him in public near MGM area on Saturday morning.

The accused, identified as Taiban Khan (25, Kailashnagar), has been arrested by Jinsi police. The lecturer, who works at a private college, used to travel daily around 9.30 am by two-wheeler via Mondha Naka and Seven Hills route. For the past 7- 8 days, the accused allegedly followed her on his bike and made obscene gestures. Initially ignored, the harassment escalated over time. On May 2 around 10 am, the accused repeated the act. Frustrated, the woman stopped him near the MGM area and confronted him. He reportedly responded aggressively and argued with her, drawing public attention. Locals, including a friend of her brother, intervened and separated them before the crowd caught hold of the accused and beat him up. Police from Cidco station rushed to the spot after being alerted. Since the initial offence occurred under Jinsi police limits, senior officials directed registration of the case there. The accused, who works at a gas agency and lives in Kailashnagar with his family, was arrested by assistant sub-inspector Upendra Kutur.
