Railway goods yard to come up at Daulatabad; tender process begins
The process to establish a railway goods yard at Daulatabad has gained momentum, with the tender process now underway. Railway officials informed that the redevelopment of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway station building is scheduled for completion by June 2027.
The pit line work is expected to be completed within the next four months. A review meeting on various railway-related issues was held on Saturday at the office of former MP Dr Bhagwat Karad, attended by railway officials and representatives of different organisations. The progress of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway station redevelopment project was discussed in detail. The new station building, to be constructed over nearly one acre, will feature a rooftop cover extending across all railway lines. Plans include a shopping complex, food plaza, gaming zone for children, and luxury rooms for passengers on the first floor. The project also proposes four flyover bridges, five platforms, and ticket counters and entry gates on both sides of the station. Dr Karad discussed the developments with Pradeep Kamle, divisional railway manager (DRM) of the Nanded division under South Central Railway. Discussions were also held on proposed new railway routes including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Pune, Chalisgaon–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Beed–Dharashiv. It was informed that railway board deputy director Krishnakant was also consulted regarding these matters. Representatives of the Marathwada Railway Action Committee and railway officials were present at the meeting. Boost to freight movement The proposed goods yard at Daulatabad is expected to benefit the industrial and freight sectors in the region.
