CSN and Jalna's long-standing railway concerns took centre stage on Tuesday as MP Dr Kalyan Kale met with south central railway’s divisional railway manager (DRM) Neeti Sarkar.
The discussion focused on railway upgrades, passenger amenities, and freight facilities. A key outcome was the decision to hold a special review meeting within three months to address critical issues. MP Kalyan Kale urged immediate action on doubling and electrifying the Manmad-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway line and improving Mukundwadi, Badnapur, Karmad, Lasur, and Jalna stations. He stressed the need for coach indication boards, waiting rooms, clean restrooms, and covered sheds. Highlighting industrial needs, he pushed for dedicated freight and parcel-handling facilities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna, both major economic hubs.

Railway expansion and new train service requests to DRM
MP Kalyan Kale urged railway authorities to introduce new train services to improve connectivity in the region. He proposed a shuttle train between Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and an evening train from Jalna to Mumbai with a return service via Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He requested the Rameswaram-Okha Express to run twice a week and the Nanded-Tandur-Raichur Express to be extended to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna. He also pushed for the Jalna-Nagarsol DEMU to run twice daily and demanded a direct train between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Bengaluru. To improve long-distance travel, he proposed new weekly trains on the Jalna-Manmad-Okha and Jalna-Manmad-Jodhpur-Bikaner routes. Additionally, he requested a halt for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Guntur Express at Hyderabad Deccan station and an express train stop at Badnapur station for better accessibility.

Railway authorities respond
Manmad-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway doubling project is in its final phase and nearing completion.
Electrification work is on track and will finish as scheduled.
Parcel-handling facilities will be developed at Jalna, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Badnapur stations.
