The second wave of Corona pandemic has hit the country once again. The state and the district are facing the serious situation since last month. During April, the situation has gone from bad to worst. In the district more than 1200 patients are being reported positive daily. The situation all over the state is not very different. Hence, the state government has imposed the second lockdown of the pandemic from April 14, 8 pm on wards.
The first lockdown was announced across the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from March 24 midnight. The first lockdown was the tough time for the residents as they had never experienced such a situation. People thought that it was imposed forcefully on them. People were seen crowding in the market to purchase the essential commodities or to travel to their native places.
During the second wave, the number of patients is increasing rapidly. The Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, has announced severe guidelines through the initiative ‘Break the Chain’ from April 14, 8 pm onwards.
The residents during the second lockdown phase are seemed to be co-operating with the administration and the police. District Collector Sunil Chavan on April 13, announced timings for various services. Still, the residents on Sunday did not crowd in the markets. The administration has allowed the essential commodities shops to be opened between 7 am and 1 pm. Hence, the people were seen purchasing their daily need articles in the morning itself. The city roads were not seen crowded with the vehicles. The meat, chicken and fish shops were open in the morning and being Sunday, the people were seen at the Mukundwadi market. However, people themselves were seen following the social distancing norms.
Meanwhile, the police van was wandering on the road and the police were announcing the timing given to the shops till 1 pm on the loud speaker. Since, the afternoon, the police are adopting strict measures against the people wandering without reason on the road. Moreover, people preferred to remain at homes and the roads were seen deserted barring a few vehicles.
Meanwhile, the police bandobast have been deployed at various places in the city. The police were seen at various localities telling the shopkeepers to close the shops in the given time limit. The vehicles were checked by the police at various places. The administration has appealed that strict action will be taken against those who will not follow the guidelines
