Police arrested Sanjay Bhagirathmal Agarwal, the owner of a milling company in Karodi Shivar and a key accused in the black market sale of school nutrition grains, in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. The court remanded him to police custody until February 18, PI Rekha Londhe of Daulatabad Police Station confirmed.

A police team led by DCP Nitin Bagate raided Agarwal’s Gajanan Agro Sales Corporation mill on February 1 and uncovered large-scale misappropriation. Officers seized thousands of government-supplied nutrition grain sacks meant for Maharashtra’s Child Development Project, which were being repackaged and illegally sold in other states. They also found grain from Punjab’s government stock. Despite auction restrictions, officials discovered that each government sack was being split into 20 to 25 smaller packets under private labels. Earlier, police arrested manager Matinoddin Gazanfrodin Qazi and supervisors Balwantsingh Chauhan and Rohit Singh.

Resort dispute exposed Agarwal’s hideout

Agarwal initially stayed at a resort 15 km from Kalaburagi under a friend’s name. A dispute with the resort manager forced him to leave. He then checked into Crystal Resort under his real name. Police combed through hotel records, found his booking, and swiftly arrested him.
