The city's water shortage became a topic of discussion during the inauguration ceremony of the Shivajinagar underpass road on Saturday morning. Along with the issue of water, there were political jibes over the position of the guardian minister and the funding for the 'DPC'. This led to a dramatic exchange of words between guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat and MP Sandipan Bhumare.
While speaking on the occasion, district chief Rajendra Janjal initially mentioned Bhumare as the guardian minister but later corrected the mistake by immediately referring to Shirsat as the guardian minister. Then Shirsat jibed at Janjal, saying, “I became the guardian minister, but Bhumare's name is still being mentioned. Hence, whatever is going on in Janjal's mind will happen. Bhumare is also yours, and I, too, am yours."
Exchange positions in future
Addressing to the MP, Shirsat added, "Something seems to be off today. Looking at Nandkumar Ghodele, I was reminded of Chandrakant Khaire. Bhumare, it's good that you became an MP. Some people thought we played a 'game' – you did two and a half years, and I did five years. Next time, you come here and I will go there." This led to discussions at the event that Shirsat might contest the next Lok Sabha elections.
Leave aside the road, resolve water issue: MP
"Even if a road is left incomplete, it's fine, but we need to make quick efforts to ensure that the water, which is currently supplied every eight days, reduces to two days," said MP Bhumare adding, "I served as the guardian minister for two and a half years and made various efforts to address the issue."
MP saheb, don't worry: Shirsat.
"The water issue will be resolved by the end of this March. When the water issue is raised, it creates frustration among the citizens. Everyone is speaking falsely, and there is a feeling of distrust. But now, a final deadline has been set. If the work is not completed on time, action will be taken," pointed out Shirsat.
Why there is a need of funds?
"Bhumare Saheb, you are an MP, and your son is an MLA. You don’t need the 'DPC' funds. When you were the guardian minister, you took all the funds. Now, give us your share of the funds," said Shirsat. In response, Bhumare immediately spoke up, and Shirsat remarked, "Even though this is not a DPC meeting, some things need to be said openly. Just because you’ve taken an oath doesn’t mean you shouldn't share certain things." Shirsat then praises the work of MP Bhumare.
