Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the highest seat winner (85) in Zilla Parishad (ZP) elections of the four districts of the Marahtwada, results of which were declared on Monday.

Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) is in second place with 43 seats.

The tally of both BJP and Shinde Sena gave the upper hand to Mahayuti in these districts. However, no party could secure a majority in these districts.

The ZP elections were held for 231 seats in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv and Latur districts on February 7. The results of the seats were declared on Monday.

Nationalist Congress Party-Ajit Pawar (NCP-AP) got 37 seats in the elections while NCP-Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP) had to contend with just two seats. The NCP-SP did not open its account in Parbhani and Dharashiv.

Congress could secure 30 seats while Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT)-Sena registered victory at 23 seats. The number of other category candidates is 11, which is higher than NCP-SP.

BJP has the highest number of seats in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani, getting 24 seats in each district.

Also, after Congress, it is the second-largest party in Latur.

Congress has the highest number of seats in Latur (23) while it won just one seat in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and three each in Parbhani and Dharashiv.
