As soon as the city’s newly elected mayor, Sameer Rajurkar, assumed office at 1.15 pm on Tuesday, celebrations erupted across the city. The same joy was reflected within the Rajurkar household. Father Subhash, mother Sushma and wife Shubhangi Rajurkar shared their emotions, stating that this achievement was the true reward of Sameer’s years of hard work. While speaking fondly about him, the family said his dedication over the years had finally borne fruit.
Hope that city issues will be resolved
The city faces several issues such as garbage management, traffic problems and electricity poles obstructing roads. These problems must be resolved. The historic city should look clean and beautiful, and its overall development must take place. If all these issues are addressed through Sameer’s initiative, it will bring even greater happiness.

What greater joy can there be than seeing one’s son become the mayor of this city? God has given him the opportunity to serve the people. Even earlier, while serving as corporator of Samarthanagar ward, he used to devote himself day and night to resolving citizens’ problems.

Reward for 25 years of hard work
I am extremely happy about his election as mayor. His hard work has been recognised. He has been active in politics and social work for the past 25 years, and today it feels like true justice has been done. He also gives time to the family and his phone is never switched off. I campaigned for him in 2010 and did so again this time as well.
