A staged accident on Golatgaon-Kaudgaon Road on Wednesday night resulted in a robbery of Rs 7.5 lakh. The robbers faked a two-wheeler accident, tricking a car driver into stopping to help, and then looted him at knifepoint.

Baban Dabhade had planned to purchase a Pokhlean machine and had carried cash for the transaction. On Wednesday morning, he travelled to Shendra MIDC with the money. However, as the deal did not go through, he continued with other business work and started his return journey at night. Near a quarry on the Golatgaon-Kaudgaon Road, he saw two motorcycles lying on the road, with two individuals appearing injured and another person helping them. Assuming it was an accident, Dabhade stopped his car and lowered the right-side window. At that moment, one of the men held a knife to his neck and demanded money. They pulled him out of the car, assaulted him and stole Rs 7.5 lakh from the vehicle. All four robbers then fled on motorcycles. Hearing Dabhade’s cries for help, Bappasaheb Rode and Uttam Rode, who were nearby, arrived at the scene and alerted the village. Despite his injuries, Dabhade managed to reach Karamad Police Station and file a complaint. DSP Pooja Nagre visited the scene on Thursday. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Pratap Navghare and Sunil Gore. Dabhade is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
