A man was seriously injured after an externed criminal stabbed him in the head during a dispute over liquor outside a wine shop at Bombay Market, Padegaon, around 6 pm on recently.

The accused, Ritik Awhad (30) of Bhimnagar, attacked Rohit Ravindra Kamble (26, Christ nagar, Chhawani). Rohit had gone with friends Nilesh Awhad and Shimon Shive to ask Ritik for a treat after the birth of his baby boy. An argument erupted at the wine shop, after which Ritik allegedly pulled out a knife, abused Rohit saying, “I am a ‘bhai’, how dare you ask me for liquor?”, and stabbed him in the head. Constable Deepak Sonawane of Chhavani police detained the accused. Police said Ritik had been externed from the city for two years on January 23, 2026, but returned citing his wife’s health. He has been arrested and booked for both the assault and violation of the externment order, said in-charge officer Dr Vivek Jadhav.
