Aurangabad, Nov 14:

The Zilla Parishad (ZP) has received the first installment of the 15th Finance Commission for 867 gram panchayats in the district. However, Rs 47,78,69,000 of the 14th finance commission has remained unspent until now. Now, the ZP has been given the extension till March 31, 2021 to spend this amount, informed the ZP CEO, Dr Mangesh Gondawale.

The development works in the district were hampered for the past nine months due to the Corona Crisis. The 14th finance commission funds remained unspent and now it has received the extension till March 31, 2021. Hence, the development works of water supply, cleanliness, repairing and maintenance will gain momentum, Dr Gondawale said.

Meanwhile, ZP vice president L G Gaikwad, members Ramesh Gaikwad, Madhukar Walture, Ramesh Pawar and others have demanded that the gram panchayat and concerned officials should be held responsible if the funds are not utilized in time.
