Samruddhi to DMIC connectivity to cost Rs 41 crore

Multinational companies will invest in DMIC if only there are state-of-the-art transport facilities. Despite being aware of the fact, the board of directors of MIDC has not yet agreed on who will take charge of the connectivity of the super expressway. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has recently submitted a proposal of Rs 41 crore to MIDC for connectivity of Samruddhi Highway.

The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), an international standard industrial estate, is developing rapidly in Aurangabad. DMIC''s Shendra belt currently has six large companies. About 61 industries are occupying the land. In comparison, the Bidkin industrial belt has undergone infrastructure development. However, no industry has started there yet. However, railway and air services are within walking distance of DMIC. Connectivity to the Samruddhi highway from the Shendra industrial belt will facilitate faster transportation and attract more investors to DMIC. However, this has only been discussed for the last six months. MSRDC has agreed to provide connectivity on the condition that land acquisition and road work expenses from Shendra to Samruddhi expressway should be borne by MIDC. Recently, a proposal of Rs 41 crore has been submitted to MIDC for road works.

Money is not a significant issue

MSDRC superintendent engineer A B Salunke said that both MSRDC and MIDC are under the purview of the state government. Money is not a big issue for connectivity. Who spends the money on connectivity will be decided at the senior level. MIDC has given a loan of Rs 750 crore to MSRDC for the construction of Samruddhi highway. The road from Shendra to Samruddhi highway will be constructed by the mega construction company. Work will start after the money is transferred to this company. For this, MIDC will have to complete the process of the land acquisition first. A decision in this regard is expected from the MIDC board of directors soon.
