Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

In an illegal sand smuggling case, a Hyva truck seized at midnight was allegedly stolen by sand smugglers from the premises of the Upper Tehsil Office by early morning. It is being alleged that such theft incidents have been occurring continuously over the past two years with the possible involvement of officials and employees from within the department. However, despite this, the revenue department has failed to take necessary measures, prompting senior police officials to express strong displeasure.

Circle officer Ajit Gawande lodged a complaint in this regard. On February 11 at around 11:30 PM, gram revenue officer Ashok Kashid and others had seized a Hyva truck (MH-20-GZ-0006) transporting illegal sand in the Beed Bypass area. After completing the panchanama, the vehicle was parked at the tehsil office premises at around 3 AM. At that time, the driver Ashfaq Pathan had stated that the Hyva belonged to Abdul Pathan. However, by 11 AM on February 12, before the commencement of official work, the vehicle had gone missing from the premises. The complaint suspects that Ashfaq and Pathan may have stolen the vehicle together.

A case has been registered at City Chowk police station, and police sub-inspector Bhagwat Muthal is conducting further investigation.
