Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: While selecting co-opted members in the municipal corporation, social balance and the prioritisation of dedicated BJP workers will be key considerations, said MLC Sanjay Kenekar and BJP city president Kishor Shitole in a meeting to the newspaper.

Following BJP’s decisive victory in the municipal corporation elections, Kenekar and Shitole paid a courtesy visit to Lokmat Bhavan on Saturday. They were welcomed by Editor-in-Chief of Lokmat Group Rajendra Darda, by presenting shawls and bouquets. Both leaders expressed their gratitude to Darda for the contribution of the newspaper in the city’s development and discussed the party’s election strategy and success in detail.

Explaining the reasons behind BJP’s victory, Kenekar and Shitole said, “The city prioritised development. BJP appealed for votes for the Lotus symbol in all four seats in every prabhag. All candidates campaigned together to secure votes for BJP, which clearly reflected in the results. There were some setbacks in places like Gulmandi, but otherwise we would have crossed 60 seats.”

BJP preserves Hindutva in the city: Kenekar

“Every Saturday, I perform the Maha Aarti and recite the Hanuman Chalisa, a practice I have followed consistently for the past two years. I led the Kawad Yatra with 30,000 youth. I will not dwell on what Uddhav Sena did in the city. BJP has preserved Hindutva in the city,” said MLC Sanjay Kenekar.

A mayor who accelerates development: Shitole

There are several options for the mayoral post. After the zilla parishad election results, the core committee will meet to select three names by consensus, which will then be sent to Mumbai. One of these names will be announced as the mayor. “It will be a mayor free from corruption and committed to driving development,” said BJP city president Kishor Shitole.
