A man claiming to be a yoga guru and motivational speaker allegedly attempted to murder his neighbour over a trivial dispute. The incident occurred on April 6 at around 8 pm at Kasliwal Tarangan in Padegaon. A case has been registered at the Chhawani police station on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Sachin Kumar Phulpagar (44) and his father, Sugandh Maroti Phulpagar (72), in connection with the case. After two days of police custody, they were remanded to judicial custody, informed Chhawani police station in-charge Dr Vivek Jadhav. According to the complaint lodged by Sangita Darekar, Sachin Kumar regularly brought meat and other food items from outside and fed stray dogs on the society road. As a result, the number of stray dogs in the society increased, causing inconvenience to residents. The dogs allegedly scattered meat and bones across the premises. Sangita’s husband and other residents had earlier requested him to stop. On April 6 at around 8 pm, Sachin Kumar and his father allegedly assaulted Sangita’s husband upon spotting him in the society premises. He was struck two to three times on the head with a cement pole, leaving him seriously injured and unconscious. Locals rushed him to hospital. Based on Sangita’s complaint, Chhawani police registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested both accused.
