Chhatrapati SambhajinagarAn exhibition showcasing Shiv-era weapons, coins and Moddi script literature at Kranti Chowk on Sunday left Shiv devotees captivated.

The event displayed rare historical artifacts from the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Mughal era organised by the Shiv Sena(UBT) on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti. The leader of opposition in the MLC Ambadas Danve inaugurated the exhibition with the beats of traditional drums and instruments. The Mahabali Shahaji Raje Bhosale Museum from Nanded presented over 300 historic weapons, including swords, maces, spears, daggers, muskets, shields and cannons. The exhibition, open to the public throughout the day, attracted a large number of history enthusiasts. Several Shiv Sena(UBT) leaders and members of the Women’s Front attended, while city organizer Sachin Tayade conducted the event.

Preserving history for future generations

"Many young people are unaware of Maratha-era weaponry. This exhibition educates them on how Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his soldiers fought using heavy arms, inspiring strength and pride," said MLC Ambadas Danve.

Rare artifacts on display

The exhibition featured 300 historical weapons, including the Maratha Dhopa, Vijayanagar Katar, Wagh Nakh, British-era swords, Mughal and Rajput swords, flintlock guns, fort locks, kukri, bichwa, bow and arrow, khanjarli, jambia, and gupti, offering a glimpse into past warfare techniques.

2,000-year-Old Coin Steals the Show

Authentic Shiv-era coins, including Shivrai, Dudandi Shivrai and Raigadi Shivrai, were showcased, along with a rare 2,000-year-old coin from the era of Ramraje. Organizing committee president Baji Pratap Patil shared insights through the exhibition.
