“By eliminating ignorance and illiteracy, Shivaji Maharaj collected knowledge in various fields including logic and Mathematics. He started new industries at the foot of Raigad and created a new society. A society based on skills is also his creation. He was the ideal in the Indian freedom struggle. His Sakalajanvad is a philosophy that touches various fields such as political, social, economic, educational, religious and defence,” said Dr Prakash Pawar, a veteran scholar and political analyst.

He was speaking in a lecture organised at the lawns of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Wednesday to celebrate the Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Vice Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari presided over the event.

Pro-VC Dr Walmik Sarvade, Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, Management Council member Dr Ravikiran Sawant, Dr Aparna Patil and Student Development Director Dr Kailash Ambhure were seated on the dais.

Dr Prakash Pawar, the author of the book 'Sakaljanwadi Shivarai', which is abuzz currently in the State said Shivaji had a holistic view of human life. Therefore, he fought to make the lives of individuals strong. He brought harmony to the then chaotic society,” he added. Dr Parag Hase conducted the proceedings of the programme.
