Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An Assistant Transport Inspector of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Sillod depot, Sharad Vitthal Bhivsane (40, Vaishalinagar, Sillod), ended his life by jumping into a well on Wednesday afternoon, allegedly driven to the extreme by harassment from his seniors.

The Sillod police have registered a case against Depot Manager Vijay Kalwane, Transport Inspector Kiran Awasarmal, and Clerk Vikas Chavan under charges of abetment to suicide and the Atrocities Act, based on a complaint by the deceased's relative, Popat Bhivsane.

The three accused allegedly subjected Sharad to persistent mental harassment, hurled casteist abuses, and repeatedly threatened to post him on external duty.

Jumped into well after leaving for lunch

Sharad reported for duty on Wednesday morning and left after his shift ended at noon, telling colleagues he was going for lunch. He jumped into a well in the R.L. Park area around 2 pm. Local residents retrieved the body around 3 pm and took it to the Sub-District Hospital, where he was declared dead.

ST workers outraged; bus services halted

Employees and family members gathered at the city police station, refusing to claim the body until a case was registered. Angry colleagues shut down bus operations at 4 pm, disrupting 20 rural services and causing hardship to passengers. Police Inspector Sheshrao Udar registered the case against all three accused at 9:30 pm. Investigation is underway.
